Livesport

Nine internal systems behind a sports platform serving 100M+ people

Coordinate Sports data / high-traffic consumer software

One of the world's most-visited sports-results platforms runs on a fleet of internal systems that must stay correct and fast under enormous, spiky load, where a coordination or data error is visible to tens of millions of people within seconds.

The intervention

Flexiana designed, built and operated nine internal systems for Livesport in Clojure, ClojureScript and PostgreSQL, data-oriented services built to be correct under load and maintainable by the client's own team.

Clojure / ClojureScript · Data-oriented systems · PostgreSQL · High-throughput services

Result

Nine internal systems delivered and running in production behind a platform with more than 100 million users.

Scope and scale are stated as delivered. Commercial metrics are the client's and are not published here.

In production

Some software is judged in a meeting. This kind is judged by tens of millions of people, in real time, the instant a match result changes. Livesport operates one of the most-visited sports-results platforms in the world. Behind it sits a fleet of internal systems where a coordination error, a stale cache or a slow query is not a bug ticket, it is wrong scores in front of a stadium’s worth of users, repeated across every timezone.

What we built

Flexiana designed, built and operated nine internal systems for Livesport, in Clojure, ClojureScript and PostgreSQL. The brief was not a feature list. It was a standard, services that stay correct under large, spiky load, and that the client’s own engineers can own and extend after we hand them over. Data-oriented design is the reason that combination is achievable: plain data, explicit transformations, and systems small enough to reason about even when the traffic is not.

Why it belongs here

This engagement predates the decision-systems framing, and we include it deliberately: it is the evidence under the newer work. The discipline that lets us model a decision, prove it and ship a dependable system is the same discipline that keeps nine services correct behind a platform at this scale. A team that has not built dependable software at load has no business claiming it can build a decision system you can run.

What the evidence is

The scope and scale above are stated as delivered, nine systems, in production, behind a platform serving more than 100 million users. Livesport’s own commercial metrics are theirs, and we do not publish them. What this case demonstrates is not a margin figure. It is that dependable engineering at serious scale is something we have done.
